HOSPICE OF CENTRAL MICHIGAN / WOODLAND HOSPICE
HISTORY
In 1983, a small group of concerned residents called a meeting to explore the possibility of bringing hospice to our community. After hundreds of hours of planning and preparations, the first hospice patient was accepted by Hospice of Central Michigan in 1984. The organization has undergone great transformations in the past 26 years.
Our services, which include support for families, spiritual care and grief counseling, are provided in private homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes and hospitals and in 2008 Woodland Hospice House and Morey Bereavement Center was built.
Nestled in the serenity of a 22 –acre woodland setting, this state of the art facility addressed a crucial need. It ensured exceptional end-of-life care for the residents of the Central Michigan region as an alternative to private homes, area care facilities or hospitals.
In 2010, Woodland Hospice became licensed by the state as a skilled nursing facility and certified to accept Medicaid and Medicare reimbursements. We have grown from an all-volunteer staff to a staff of more than 30 full-and part-time professionals, backed by a phenomenal team of over 100 trained volunteers from throughout the Central Michigan area.
Woodland Hospice is the premier service provider for Central Michigan serving patients, families, friends and neighbors for more than 25 years.
