Development Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall development, implementation and coordination of the donor relations programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ combined experience in fund raising and development.
  • Experience in news and feature writing, writing of grant proposals, and reports to funders.
  • Experience supervising the production of newsletters, brochures, and direct mail materials.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Skilled typist and experience in word and data processing.

FUNCTIONS

  • Design and implement all fundraising and development programs.
  • Develop materials for fund raising campaigns and oversee all aspects of campaign activity.
  • Develop materials for solicitation and acknowledgment of contributions.
  • Develop new funding projects as well as maintain current fund raising program activities; recommend changes and improvements as indicated.
  • Identify and plan for contact of business, corporate, foundation and community funding groups.
  • Develop and follow Development department budget.
  • Develop and write grant proposals/requests for funds.
  • Prepare appropriate reports for funders.
  • Maintain computerized record-keeping system which includes gifts in all categories.
  • Oversee donor acknowledgment and family notifications.
  • Establish ongoing community relations program to maintain ties with potential funders and volunteers including newsletter production, preparation of press releases, and brochures.
  • Establish ongoing relationships with media in order to keep the public aware of Hospice and its program of services.
  • Develop publicity opportunities in support of Woodland Hospice  fund raising activities and special events.
  • Assist with development and implementation of capital campaigns.
  • Prepare reports for executive director as requested.
  • Provide staff support to Community Relations Committee and Development Committee and coordinate all fund raising activities.
  • Perform specific assignments as directed by the executive director.
  • Maintain relationships with CMU RSO.
  • Oversee participation in civic and community groups in all parts of our service area.
