Our Mission: To provide exceptional end of life and bereavement care.

Woodland Hospice and Morey Bereavement Center is a community based 501 (c) 3 hospice organization. Established in 1983, Woodland Hospice is based in Mt. Pleasant MI. and serves Isabella and parts of the surrounding counties. The organization is state licensed and Medicare certified with 40 employees, 120 active volunteers and is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 12 members. A five member Leadership Team oversees day to day  clinical and financial operations and a budget of $ 2 Million.

In 2008, Hospice House, an eight bed, state of the art licensed certified facility was opened. During 2010 the facility will also be licensed as a specialty Skilled Nursing Facility with hospice only beds.

The organization enjoys a very stable employee and volunteer group, strong community commitment, and mission-focused culture.

JOB TITLE: Executive Director

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, human services or related field.

2. Minimum 3 years clinical or business management / supervisory experience preferably in hospice or related health field.

3. Prior experience in budget development as well as financial management.

4. Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to motivate and organize staff.

5. Proven development / fund raising experience.

6. Demonstrated excellence in both public speaking and written communication.

Preferred:

1. Master’s degree in health care, business management or human services.

2. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, and/or business planning.

3. Experience with non-profit organizations, and/or private health care.

4. Grant writing experience.

5. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and other managed care entities.

6. SNF Administrator license, or willing to get one.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

1. Overall responsibility for day-to-day operations of Woodland Hospice and Morey Bereavement Center.

>Oversee all services and functions with responsibility for all program operations.

>Assure That Woodland Hospice meets and/or exceeds all applicable regulatory requirements. Assume responsibility for the readiness of WH to meet all inspections, surveys and reviews —– including state licensure,  federal certifications, and accreditation’s.

>Supervise the compliance of all administrative functions, policies and procedures.

>Maintain current copies of all applicable regulations, statutes, policies and procedures.

>Act as a liaison between the board, staff, clients, physicians and other health care providers.

2. Client Stewardship.

>Ensure clients are the #1 priority.

>Maintain confidentiality.

>Express compassion toward client and family.

3. Develop and Expand Revenue Performance

>Overall responsibility for budgeting and financial management.

>Responsible for donor development.

>Oversee development and implementation of fund raising programs.

>Explore new business opportunities.

>Expand grant opportunities.

4. Supervision of Staff.

>Provide visionary leadership, organizational and team building skills.

>Oversee appropriate education and training of staff and volunteers.

>Maintain updated job descriptions and conduct annual job performance reviews.

>Empower and respect staff and volunteers.

>Advocate for staff.

5. Community outreach.

>Be the official spokesperson and face of Woodland Hospice.

>Be active and visible in the community.

>Develop relationships at all levels.

>Be an advocate for Woodland Hospice.

>Manage public relations by highlighting the Hospice House, the Morey Bereavement Center, along with our exceptional in-home care.

>Be involved in community education.

6. Act as liaison between the Board of Directors and the organization.

>Keep the board informed of program activities through written and verbal reports.

>Present proposals and recommendations to the board for action regarding policies and programs.

>Implement directives from the Board of Directors.
